Have you ever wanted to be in a warm, fuzzy play about the First Thanksgiving? Well … this isn’t it! The Thanksgiving Play, Larissa Fasthorse’s hilarious satire that received its Broadway debut this year—making Fasthorse the first Native American woman playwright on Broadway—revolves around four white actors attempting to create a respectful and politically correct “First Thanksgiving” play for Native American Heritage Month, to be performed in schools. And they fail … hard. Tackling topics like historical accuracy, privilege, the misrepresentation of Native Americans, and lack of indigenous casting—all the while poking fun at “wokeness” and the art of theater itself—this cringe-worthy comedy is a derailed riot of a ride—packed with plenty of laughs!

Cast Needed:
Note: Adult ages are flexible, and actors who “look white” may be played by POC
passing as white.
Logan
Adult, female, Caucasian looking, the director as well as an actor. Earnest about theater
and doing the right thing, but wants everyone to feel part of the collaboration so much
that it derails the actual play.
Caden
Adult, male, Caucasian looking, the academic. Teacher in the L.A. Unified School
System with dramatic aspirations but no clue how things work on stage.
Jaxton
Adult, male, Caucasian looking, the LA surfer actor. Politically correct to a fault, a big
one. He’s that guy everyone loves, but his logical PC thinking takes weird turns.
Alicia
Adult, female, brunette Caucasian but has looks that would have been cast as ethnic in
1950s movies. Attractive, but not bright. That actress whose every script note ends with
her being allocated more lines.
School Teacher
Adult, any gender
4-6 Chorus Singers
Ages high school to adult, needed to perform a handful of children’s songs in chorus,
strong singing skills not required, rapping skills welcome.

Costume assistant
Lighting technician
