This year’s program showcases songs that uplift the human spirit—songs of joy, praise, love, and gratitude that dissolve disharmony and foster inspiration and joy. Across history and cultures, these universal themes give rise again and again to music that re-establishes harmony and peace in the face of social discord.
With text settings ranging from St. Augustine to Shakespeare to Walt Whitman, and in musical genres including Renaissance polyphony, dancelike modern rhythms and harmonies, soothing spirituals, and rousing gospel tunes, this concert program displays the diversity and creativity of human expression in the choral tradition.
“This year we wanted to create a program to nourish and uplift our audiences—to send everyone home with a song in their hearts,” says Elaine Reding, musical director of the Chamber Singers.
“We’ve gathered together a beautiful selection of choral gems that we can’t wait to share with you. And the joy and gratitude brimming over in every song perfectly expresses the spirit of the spring season. Please join us for an inspiring evening of song!”
Don’t miss the Chamber Singers spring concert on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary.
Tickets are $10 at the door.
