The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa, directed by Elaine Reding, was founded in 1991 to give voice to the finest a cappella music. Over the past 32 years, the group has performed more than 650 choral works from 45 countries. The Chamber Singers are known for their diverse programming and dynamic performances of choral music from many cultures and in a variety of vocal styles. The group performs two community concerts annually and also sings for University and community events, and their outreach programs have brought several international choruses to Fairfield. “Chamber Singers” is an accredited course in MIU’s Creative Musical Arts program. In January 2017 the Chamber Singers were invited to Carnegie Hall to sing Kim André Arnesen’s Requiem in a concert titled “Reflections of Peace.” In November 2017 the Fairfield Cultural Alliance presented its Fairfield Cultural Contribution & Cultural Legacy Award to Elaine Reding to honor her contributions to the community and in appreciation of her 25+ years directing the Chamber Singers in performing outstanding choral music.
